Advisors
KAWAGUCHI, Yoriko
Member of the House of Councillors, Japan
Former Foreign Minister, Japan
"Today, we can travel around the world in only 80 hours as opposed to 80 days as in the past. Yet hunger and poverty are still in existence. .
TABLE FOR TWO reduces hunger in this world through small efforts in our daily lives. It also simultaneously addresses the problem of obesity in the rich countries.
Let’s support this creative initiative. And let’s turn tiny ripples of hope into a huge current."

KUROKAWA, Kiyoshi
Science Advisor to the Prime Minister, Japan
"It is very heart-warming to learn of this very creative program toward one of the most serious social problems of the world, ie, obesity on one hand in affluent society and starvation and death on the other. This inequity is a shame we all have to be responsible. Table for Two represents a genuinely entrepreneurial innovative project collaborating with the international effort through WFP and Millennium Promise. It is more comforting that the idea and implementation came from Japanese members of Young Global Leaders (YGL), a brainchild of World Economic Forum. This global network of YGL will then be an effective means to spread this great initiative to the wide world so that such humane entrepreneurial spirit will reach out those children, women and men who suffer the misery of unnecessary hunger and death. Those who are fortunate struggling to lose weight will be pleased to support such a great cause by meeting to their own need."
NIWA, Uichiro
Chairman, ITOCHU Corporation, Japan
"In this world, a child dies of hunger every five seconds. With the cost of a cup of coffee, we can help ten children survive the day. It is critical for the private sector in rich countries to help bring an end to hunger, and for employees to have high aspirations based on compassion and values. TABLE FOR TWO is a wonderful program that is easy to understand, and offers a simple system that allows broad participation by companies and their employees. I am looking forward to seeing this creative program expand and be an example for the private sector taking a lead in tackling global issues. "

TAKENAKA, Heizo
Professor, Keio University, Japan
Former Economic and Financial Minister, Japan
"One of the major issues facing mankind today is poverty eradication. While people in the developed world suffer from excess nutrition, people in the developing world cannot escape from the pain of hunger. Young Global Leaders selected by the World Economic Forum launched a new initiative called “TABLE FOR TWO”. Through small efforts of people suffering from excess nutrition in the developed world, many children in the developing world can be saved. I would like to support the passion of these Young Global Leaders."

KIYOMI, Mikuni
Societe Mikuni CEO and Chef
"As a professional in the world of food, food related issues around the world have always concerned me and it has always been my ambition to do something with my skills as a chef to try and help to improve the situation. When TABLE FOR TWO approached me to become involved with one of their projects, the timing was just right, enabling me to make the first steps toward achieving this goal. With a will to share happiness with children in developing countries, I got involved in the “HAPPY FOR TWO” campaign, which was based upon memorable occasions enjoyed through meals at the table." Based on these episodes, we came up with the idea of a“Lunch Box of Happiness”. These were sold in department stores, with part of the sales donated for school meals through TABLE FOR TWO. As a professional in the world of food, I would like to continue to support TABLE FOR TWO and their establishments so that this positive movement can go beyond Japan and spread around the world."
YOKO, Ishikura
Professor of International Business Strategy, Hitotsubashi ICS, Japan
"In the 21st century, the world is becoming smaller and more connected. It requires a “strategic shift” from the traditional world of dichotomy into new possibilities. A power shift is taking place, and new players such as social entrepreneurs and NPOs are emerging, TABLE FOR TWO is an ambitious attempt to implement this strategic shift by addressing the global issue of health. It captures both ends of the continuum – obesity in the advanced economies and hunger in the developing economies. It applies both “for profit” and “not-for-profit” values through the efforts of both organizations and individuals. Join us in our effort to change the world."
